Des Helmore feature in North & South Magazine.

A lovely article on DES HELMORE in the current North & South Magazine. While Des is perhaps beter known for his curiously deconstructed paintings, he is also – as the article points out – a celebrated entomological artist. In fact, his entomological drawings are so revered, a genus of weevil has been named after him (the Helmoreus).  Des has been described as one of New Zealand’s “most talented biological artists” and as Sir Charles Fleming FRS noted “Helmore’s drawings are of an artistic standard few can hope to emulate
