Vishmi Helaratne
Biography
Their practice entwines painting, sculpture, drawing, and hospitality methods, investigating notions around the private and public realities of cross-cultural identity within the migrant experience. They specifically aim to question how sensory languages within painting and sculpture communicate and expose invisible, ancient, and regenerative ways of story-telling. Helaratne relies upon and acts intensely through the personal by regurgitating a connective and reflective mode of practice between modernity and preserving tradition.
